After graduating with BCom Law and LLB degrees from Stellenbosch University, Ross Stander (OC 2017) continued his studies in London. Various achievements at Stellenbosch, including co-authoring a book on the intellectual property rights of artists in South Africa earned him a career commitment scholarship to complete his Masters in Law at BPP University. There, Ross achieved a First Class Honours award and went on to place in the top quintile in the Solicitors Qualifying Examination.
Ross has not only excelled academically but has also made impressive strides in the world of rugby refereeing. He has been promoted through the RFU ranks and is set to join a development panel soon. Just last weekend, he was invited to officiate at the UK’s premier schools rugby tournament (similar to South Africa’s Wildeklawer Festival), where he was selected to referee the Plate Final as a well-deserved honour.
Ross’s achievements reflect the same discipline, perseverance, and leadership that are hallmarks of a Maritzburg College Old Collegian. We look forward to watching his continued success both in the legal arena and on the rugby field.
