We are proud to congratulate three Maritzburg College Old Collegians who have been selected to represent the Sharks Presidential XV:

The Sharks Presidential XV brings together some of the top amateur rugby players from clubs across the region, with players selected each year based on their performances at club level. Our Old Collegians continue to make their mark, with several playing their club rugby for Durban Collegians Rugby Club.
The Sharks Presidential XV faced the Welkom Griffons XV on 12 September 2026, securing an impressive 38–22 victory, with the team expected to take on the Pumas Amateur XV in Durban on 10 October 2026.
Rugby doesn’t have to end when school does
For many boys, leaving school can feel like the end of their rugby journey. It doesn’t have to be.
You may not make the top team. You may not go on to play professional rugby. But that doesn’t mean you should stop playing. Keep putting on the boots, keep enjoying the game and embrace every opportunity to play wherever you can.
One of the great things about being an Old Collegian is that you can continue playing alongside the mates you shared the field with at school, while making new friends and creating new memories along the way.
Even when the school rugby season comes to an end, the rugby doesn’t have to. There are opportunities to keep playing, whether at club level, in representative teams or simply getting together with fellow Old Collegians for a run around.
Prince, Anele and Malwande are a great example of where that continued passion for the game can take you.
Congratulations, gentlemen. Keep playing, keep enjoying it and keep embracing the opportunities that come your way!
